Report Cards and FCAT Information

We got word late today that report cards will not be distributed until next Friday (April 19th)

There is a new rule for FCAT and it is as follows:

If a student is absent for Session 1 and they come the next day for Session 2 they will not be allowed in the classroom.  A student MUST take Session 1 of the Reading and/or Math before they can take Session 2.  If your child is sick on Monday please email me so I can make arrangements for them to make up Session 1 when they come back on Tuesday.  The same goes for Math if they are absent on Wednesday.

If your child wakes up sick on one of the mornings (temperature, throwing up, etc.) it would be better to have them stay home.  If they come and get sick during the test and have to leave the campus they will not be able to make the test up.

We are hoping that all students will be well, be here, and on time each day because these are the optimal conditions for doing well on the tests.

News and Notes

Mrs. Streater, is rewarding the fourth graders that met the challenge she gave for the writing test by rewarding those children with lunch and time to bowl for free. We will go bowling on Wednesday March 20, 2013 Early Release Day!!!!

We are near the end of the third quarter. Many of the children maintained their high academic standards. The third nine weeks should run more smoothly than the first two nine weeks as we are have had a time to learn each other. A lot of new material will be introduced this nine weeks.

This nine weeks we have two important dates to consider. 1) Spring Break March 25-April 1 in which we will be out of school.  We will have ten long days to go vacations, cruises, and wonderful family trips. (Hurray!)  2) The other important date is F.C.A.T. Testing April 15-22, 2013.    If your child is present and on time every day and he/she is paying attention in class every day and doing nightly homework, the F.C.A.T. should be a pleasure. Your child will test better with their homeroom teacher than they would anybody else.

Please have your child here the week of the test with a healthy snack and a good night’s sleep. This is the second week Ixl.com will be part of their weekly grades. Every child is expected to be on line for one hour a week on the necessary skills needed. An hour a week breaks down to 12 minutes a day Monday- Friday.

The children are welcome to come in my room before school and get on the computer if I do not have a meeting or hall duty. ( this Friday I have hall duty). Everyone has a way to log on to this site. The grades will be calculated and placed on oncourse by time spent on the computer. Ixl.com can be accessed from the public library.  Everyone must use their own log on to get credit for being on IXL.  If they finish their class work early they are allowed to get on IXL.  Extended day students are also allowed to use IxL when homework is finished.

If you have questions please feel free to contact me at 247-5900 extension 134.  Mrs. Boyd is our room mother and will soon be in contact with you concerning parties.

If anyone would like to donate items to the treasure chest feel free to do so.  All items donated will be definitely appreciated.     Thanks for all you do.    Have a wonderful week!!!
