It was so
nice to meet so many of you on family information night. Mr. Prater
and I both have children, and we realize
it is important to show your support to your children. Your child will be this age only once, and
they remember the time you spent with them more than the gifts you buy for
them.
This week is
the last week of this grading period. It is important for your child to be here
and turn everything in on time.
The phases of the moon, is due on October 24, 2012. If your child has not kept up with the
phases of the moon as they should have they can use this web site to see the
phases of the moon. WWW.stardate.org This
has been an exciting endeavor to watch the night
sky.
In the
spring about eight children will be selected from each class as a safety
patrol. The patrol sponsors will be
looking forward to picking children for this position by the following
criteria:
1.Patrols must be good citizens.
2. Patrols must attend school regularly.
3. Patrols
cannot be tardy a lot.
4. Patrols cannot be checked out early often.
5. All Patrols must maintain a C average or
better.
6. Patrols must be recommended
by their current teachers.
As their current teachers are looking at things such as: homework being done nightly
- a willingness to do their class work daily
- staying focus during work time
- going beyond the call of duty and helping other students or the teacher without being asked
We feel we have several students in our classes that would achieve this
honor as being selected as a patrol. As fourth grade teachers we would like for
you as parents to know the selection process early so we can work towards this
goal. I know
this part of the study guide was on last week and this was included in that
study guide, but this is worth repeating as a way to set our children on the
right course for the second nine weeks.
We have a Social Studies Project due in November on family
heritage. The children will be getting
a hand out very soon on the details of this project.
