Thanksgiving Week

News and Notes

  •   There is homework only one night this week and that is tonight. which is a math sheet.

  • The children will also be expected to bring in a food from their culture tomorrow.  If you are not sure what a food is from your culture bring in American food. You can bring anything from doughnuts to fried chicken.  We will have this food for lunch on Tuesday.

  • During the time we are out of school the children need to practice math facts and read every day.  After Thanksgiving we will have benchmark number 2.

  • When we return from Thanksgiving we will start right away with decimals.  Decimals are twenty percent of the FCAT.   We will learn about reading decimals and what they are.

  • The children will continue reading daily during the six day break.  Statistics have shown that the children that read for an hour a day outside of class will make a five on FCAT.   Some  children love reading so much that the television does not phase them. If we think about reading and how often we use it on a daily basis we should encourage our children to read.

  • A special thanks to all the parents that went on the field trip on Friday.  We had fun and for the most part the children’s  behavior met our expectations.  We look forward to different parents going with us on the next field trip as to allow everyone a chance to spend time with their lovely children.  Our next trip is scheduled December 10, 2012.

After the Christmas break the nine weeks is almost over. Lets encourage our
Children to do their best work and to stay focused.   Everyone desires a phenomenal report card and
Christmas should not hinder that goal.  As we turn our hearts toward the thanksgiving season let us
think on all the things and people we have to be thankful for.

Have a good thanksgiving and enjoy your
family.
