News and Notes
- We have had a wonderful first nine weeks of schools . We are setting the stage for a beautiful school year. The children are busy learning about algorithms, factors, and multiples in math. The children that have mastered the multiplication facts are further ahead of those that are just starting to learn these math facts.
- The new Science book is awesome. About every two or three days there is an experiment.
- Your child is learning to be an excellent writer this year. They are practicing idioms, contractions, capitalization, and writing in complete sentences.
- All fourth graders are learning how to use the five steps of a good writer: prewrite, writing, edit, proofreading and publishing a finished piece. They are also learning to do prompt writing. All fourth graders will take a FCAT writing test in February 2013.
- Social Studies is moving along centering on the geography of our lovely sunshine state, Florida.
- Progress Reports went home on Thursday (11/2/12).
- Report cards go home on Monday
- There are two big projects for the second nine weeks for Social Studies, the president paper doll book and the heritage project.
- The children each have a copy of the multiplication facts from 0x0-12x12. It truly would be awesome if each child knew all these facts by Christmas break.
- This week is early release on Wednesday
- There is no school on Monday November 12,2012.
