News and Notes
There are 29 more instructional days until the
writing test. The writing test will be February 26, 2013. Mr. Prater has spent the last eighty-six days preparing your child for the Florida writing score.
Your child needs to be here every day
in order to receive valuable information to pass the F.C.A.T writing test. The crafts of a good writer are being taught. The children are taught:
capitalization, grammar, punctuation, and spelling tips. Your child is also
being taught how to make their writing sizzle.
Narrative
and expository writing is also being taught so that the children will score a
four, five or six.
FCAT week is the week
of April 16. There are fifty-nine
days until the math and reading test. In Math your child is being taught area,
equivalent fraction and simplifying fractions, ordering decimals, and factors
and multiples this week. In reading the
children are building up reading stamina and working on the following skills: informational text, and finding
personification as they read.
The school year is half over and this quarter is
one of the most challenging quarters of the year. Mr. Prater and I need your assistance to
make sure your child is successful in our class by being in school and being
on time. Homework needs to be done
by your child nightly to assure your child has had the necessary
practice to pass to the fifth grade.
